Photo Assignment #3, Madarang


Overall. People gather at Duffy Square Saturday to enjoy the sights of Times Square and the newly installed art sculpture that embraces immigration in the midst of uncertainty regarding President Trump's immigration ban.

Medium. A woman and couple in Times Square Saturday evening read the sculpture's description, which informs people how many NYC immigrants are from listed countries. The sculpture was built to embrace diversity and won this year's Valentine Heart Design Competition. 



Medium. A girl hugs one of the sculpture's poles in excitement, while two children look at the countries listed on the pole. The sculpture was erected early February and will be available till March. 

Detailed. A few of the countries named on each pole in the sculpture, including how many NYC immigrants are from each listed country. The sculpture was built by the Office for Creative Research.

Detailed. A close up of the information that explains the purpose of this "data sculpture." The sculpture not only came at a month that celebrates love, but also during a tumultuous time in regard to immigration.
