Sophomore Mighty Sound of Maryland member Marcus Koene practices his trumpet ahead of the band's halftime performance Sept. 22. He's been playing the instrument for over a decade, he said.
Koene started riding motocross at age 12. Although he no longer races, he still enjoys an occasional joyride on his his 1984 Honda Nighthawk.
Koene, an aerospace engineering major, sports a propeller hat, and images of spacecrafts feature prominently in his room.
Koene has always enjoyed art, especially drawing and painting. Here, he draws some beets at his desk, an idea he said was partially inspired by The Office's Dwight Schrute, a beet farmer.
