Alex is a senior plant biology major. Outside of class, he spends many hours inside a lab at the University of Maryland, identifying gene sequences in wheat. |

Each test can take hours to run, which means that he often finds himself coming back to the lab well after most of the students have left campus. |
 |
| On the weekends however, Alex goes back to his first love--racing on the University of Maryland Cycling team. |
