Owens, Pre Video Assignment
Good Project
I feel that this PSA project is a great representation of what good video journalism should contain. It has a variety of angles of shots for the interview parts, which makes basic, not-always-interesting shots of people speaking more visually appealing and, therefore, more enjoyable to watch. This video has a lot of cool shots to emphasize the point of the PSA and all of the shots match the voice over. In addition, the camera quality and quality/focus of the shots enhances the project overall.
Bad Project
The main shot for the interview is slightly dark and the audio for the interview is difficult to hear throughout. The main shot of the subject also has a lot of head room. There is no background music, which makes the interview seem long and makes the video drag on. There are some b-roll shots, but they are not always incorporated into what the subject is saying- they seem more like they're placed randomly. This project could have been improved by checking audio levels and coordinating the b-roll with what the subject is talking about.
