Audio Assignment #1, Romano

Photo Assignment #4, Romano

On Sunday, I went to the Baltimore Orioles-Arizona Diamondbacks game at Camden Yards. Along the way, and within the stadium, I took in the scenery and the people.

Orioles pitcher Dylan Bundy takes a pause during his warmup, before firing the ball back to his catcher.

Photo Assignment #3, Romano

Over the weekend, I went home to run in a local 5k; after that, my parents told me they wanted me to take our old swing set apart and transport it to the landfill. (For the record, they did pay me.) This was the setup of the landfill's main area — people back up their vehicles and fling their refuse over the edge into bins below. (overall)

The remains of the swing set, stuffed into the back of a station wagon. (detail)

An assortment of the full bins, ready for transportation. (medium)

A separate area of the landfill, set aside for natural waste. (overall)

A front loader in the natural waste area, compressing tree branches and kicking up dust. (medium)

The section of the drop-off area reserved for metal trash. This one required me to lie across the concrete border and hold the camera out over the drop-off, while trying not to roll off the edge and fall into a garbage bin. (detail)

This is Jack Paciotti, the co-chief of The Diamondback's copy desk (along with me). Here, he enjoys a copy of The Diamondback outside Knight Hall.
Here, he's on the job, poring over a document, his AP Stylebook at the ready.

Here, he takes a break from work — or as much of a break as an editor can take.
