Photo Assignment #4, Fox

Army ROTC cadets wait to begin training at 5:45 a.m. Cadets participating in certain events in ROTC sometimes have to get up at 4:45 a.m. every weekday and some weekends.
A cadet stands outside of the armory, where Army ROTC is based at UMD, before a morning physical training session.
A cadet drinks water after a morning physical training session, something every cadet is told constantly: "Drink water!"

During Army ROTC lab, a class every cadet has to take that teaches essential military tactics and knowledge, a roomful of cadets listen to instructions on how to carry a litter, pictured above, which is used to transport casualties.

Photo Assignment #3, Fox

A small crowd looks at art in a room in the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. where Daniel in the Lions' Den is the centerpiece.

Daniel in the Lions' Den was painted by Sir Peter Paul Rubens around 1614-1615.  A mother and her son and a grandmother and her grandson sat on the couch for almost 10 minutes looking at the painting.

Standing in front of the painting, a man seems almost a part of the canvas as he looks right into the eyes of one of the lions.
One of the only colors in the painting that is not yellow-based is the red cloth wrapped above and around David. The vibrancy of the cloth catches the eye, especially against the yellows of the lions and washed-out blue of the man's shirt and backpack.

In a building filled with paint and canvas, the orchid is one of the only things that is naturally beautiful, and sits at the very front of the gallery as if to remind people as they come and go that nature is the world's ultimate artist.

Photo Assignment #2, Fox

Hannah LeFors, a junior biology major, is an Army ROTC cadet and a A/B average student. She is an extremely hardworking, dedicated and brave person. No matter how tired, sore or downtrodden she is, LeFors never quits and always gets the job done (with her perpetually-filled coffee cup in hand).

If you cannot find LeFors in the gym, in class or in the Army ROTC offices, she is most likely in the sunroom in her house where she spends hours studying everyday, sometimes late into the night.

Despite how late she studies on a daily basis, LeFors wakes up at 5:30 a.m. everyday to participate in Army ROTC physical and tactical training, where she leads and develops younger cadets while continuing to learn how to be a successful Army officer.

Lefors goes out almost every weekend, and said that it is her time to unwind and relax from the week of stress and constant work. Dressing up and getting ready is her way to remind herself that she is not only an Army soldier, but also a college student who wants to have fun every once in a while, she said.
