Photo Assignment #3, Fox

A small crowd looks at art in a room in the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. where Daniel in the Lions' Den is the centerpiece.

Daniel in the Lions' Den was painted by Sir Peter Paul Rubens around 1614-1615.  A mother and her son and a grandmother and her grandson sat on the couch for almost 10 minutes looking at the painting.

Standing in front of the painting, a man seems almost a part of the canvas as he looks right into the eyes of one of the lions.
One of the only colors in the painting that is not yellow-based is the red cloth wrapped above and around David. The vibrancy of the cloth catches the eye, especially against the yellows of the lions and washed-out blue of the man's shirt and backpack.

In a building filled with paint and canvas, the orchid is one of the only things that is naturally beautiful, and sits at the very front of the gallery as if to remind people as they come and go that nature is the world's ultimate artist.
