The display of 3,000 flags on McKeldin planted Thursday commemorates the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York. The University of Marlyand College Republicans orchestrates the display every year.
The flags are planted just below the McKeldin fountain, near the intersection of the crosswalks.
The wind pushes the flags, but it is not strong enough to blow away the ones that have fallen over.
The administration building directly overlooks the patriotic display.
